Stepping in after the discontinuation of the NEPM Asparagus Festival, local business owners Shelly and Joe Boisvert have taken the reins to offer a festive opportunity at the North Hadley Sugar Shack located at 181 River Drive. Asparagus Days will showcase an array of engaging activities and delights on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will be treated to a selection of asparagus-themed culinary creations, alongside classic cookout favorites like burgers and hot dogs, being expertly grilled by the devoted Hadley Fire Department. For adults aged 21 and over, a specially curated beer garden will provide a refreshing assortment of beverages. Music will permeate the event from the aptly named Spear Stage, featuring performances by talented local bands. Children will find much to enjoy with face painting sessions, interactions with farm animals, and the chance to explore various farm equipment displays. The event logistics have been seamlessly arranged with consideration for ease and access. Primary parking facilities will be available at 300 Venture Way, conveniently close to Route 9, with a reliable shuttle service running throughout the day to ferry guests the 3.3 miles to the Sugar Shack. On-site parking is designated for handicapped guests, ensuring accessibility for all who wish to participate. Proceeds from this jubilant community gathering will be directed towards supporting two noteworthy causes: the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, serving the region's food security needs, and the Edward Hopkins Educational Foundation, which invests in the continued learning and education of local students.
